And so we begin! Star Wars: Shadow of Maul #1 hit shelves this week, and it has left me even more excited for a show that I’m already having a seriously hard time waiting for. I don’t want to sit here and over hype the comic or anything, but the release has signaled the start of a series that I have waited a long time for.

This issue isn't just a standalone story, it's an official prelude to the Maul: Shadow Lord TV show premiering on Disney+ on April 6th. The series is designed as supplemental material for the show much like we saw with the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series, and if the first entry is any indication, we are in for a gritty, neon-soaked ride.

The Artwork: Gritty and Atmospheric

The artwork is very good, and Madibek Musabekov deserves a ton of credit here. Musabekov does a fantastic job capturing the ambience of a world ruled by organized crime.

The Mid Rim metropolis of Janix feels alive in a way that reminds me of Blade Runner or The Fifth Element. It’s full of deep shadows, vibrant neon in the city we see in the background, and a sense of “lived-in” grime that perfectly sets the stage for a crime drama.

The Story: The Calm Before the Crimson Storm

I really enjoyed the story line of this debut. Instead of starting with a lightsaber duel, we get a procedural “cop drama” feel. We follow Captain Lawson and his droid partner, Two-Boots, as they navigate the corruption of Janix.

While the “Shadow Lord” himself remains in the background for this issue, we get to see Janix before his arrival. The writing builds the tension perfectly, showing us exactly what kind of world Maul is about to step into and dismantle. It makes the planet feel dangerous, and it provides the necessary groundwork to understand the political and criminal landscape we’ll see on screen in April.

The Verdict: A Must-Read Before the Premiere

I think that it is safe to say if you’re planning on watching the show, you cannot skip this.

This issue succeeded in making me crave more. It’s a polished, atmospheric introduction to a corner of the Star Wars universe we’ll get to see more of in the upcoming months.

We finally got a good look at the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu film with the official trailer dropping today. And let me tell you, it is absolutely packed with goodies!

The trailer opens with breathtaking shots of X-Wings descending through a sunset, and it immediately shifts into scenes that remind viewers of the unmatched, almost banter-like chemistry between our two leads. For me, it captures that specific magic reminiscent of the first couple of seasons of the show.

It is wild to think about how much has changed since the series first debuted on Disney+. Back then, the father-child relationship between Din and Grogu wasn’t something I could personally relate to. But in the years since this journey began, I have welcomed not just one, but two children of my own. Now, when I watch Din Djarin navigate Grogu’s curiosity and occasional “attitude,” I finally know exactly what he’s going through!

Now, lets get into some of the cool stuff in the trailer.

The trailer is a treasure trove of familiar faces and voices. We get an appearance by Zeb Orrelios from Star Wars Rebels, who seems as charmed by Grogu as the rest of us. The legendary Sigourney Weaver makes an appearance, and though we only see them briefly, Jeremy Allen White provides the voice for one of the Hutts as Din Djarin stands before him helmet-less. We are even blessed by a voice over from the great Martin Scorsese!

We are also fortunate to encounter numerous world-building elements, including an abundance of captivating classic Star Wars looking creatures, a close-up of a few Rodians, and plenty of background characters that contribute to the authentic Star Wars atmosphere of each scene.

While the trailer is quite vague about the specific plot points, it provides us with just enough information to suggest that it will adhere to the same storytelling structure as the TV show, a space western. However, this time, it will be presented as a large-scale, high-budget cinematic experience. Regardless, I am a big fan of westerns, which is one of the reasons why I enjoyed the TV shows in the first place. So, I am optimistic that this movie will be great in terms of its plot.

The Mandalorian and Grogu appears to be shaping up to be a remarkable cinematic event in 2026, marking the commencement of the Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan era in a spectacular manner, even though we technically could consider this the Kathleen Kennedy send off because most of this filmed happened under her reign. Why not both!

Alright, I’ll hold my hand up and admit it: I am a little bit late to the party on this one. Rogue Agents #1 actually hit shelves over a month ago (way back at the tail end of December), but life has been busy. We all get busy, right?

Now that I’ve finally had the chance to sit down with it, was it worth the wait? Let’s break down the return of our favorite “defective” clones.

The Story

Written by Michael Moreci, this issue picks up with the squad during the height of the Clone Wars. The premise is classic Bad Batch: they are sent to track down a missing Separatist scientist, Dr. Ergin Lazlo, and his potentially devastating invention. What that invention is? We don’t know. I suppose that is the MacGuffin of the series.

The hook that really worked for me in this storyline was the introduction of a rival squad. Seeing Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech run into another group of clones, Sergeant Cole’s unit, creates an immediate, standoffish tension. It feels like a spiritual successor to Moreci’s previous Ghost Agents run, and the mystery of who these other clones are actually working for is a great hook moving forward in the series.

The Artwork

When it comes to the visuals, the artwork is very good. It is exactly what you have come to expect from a Dark Horse Star Wars comic, or a Dark Horse comic in general, really. Reese Hannigan, Elisabetta D’Amico, and Michael Atiyeh do a stellar job of capturing the aesthetic of the animated series.

The character designs have a classic Clone Wars feel, and the action sequences, especially a chaotic escape involving Wrecker, have a great sense of movement. Dark Horse Comics has consistently excelled in creating captivating artwork for every comic series I’ve read. I particularly appreciate the distinctive grungy aesthetic they bring to their comics.

The Verdict

Despite my delay in getting to this issue, I really enjoyed the storyline. It’s great to see the squad back together in a whole new series of comics. It captures that classic Bad Batch energy while adding enough new mystery to keep seasoned readers engaged.

Ever since the announcement that we’d be getting a standalone one-shot for one of the most polarizing figures in Star Wars, I have been buzzing! I have been an unironic Jar Jar Binks fan since I first saw The Phantom Menace. There was something about the quirky, clumsy floppy eared creature that made me fall in love with him, and Gungans as a whole. While the rest of the world was busy meme-ing him into oblivion, I always saw a character with a heart of gold who just happened to be a magnet for chaos.

So, did Star Wars: Jar Jar (2026) #1 live up to the hype?

The Return of Ahmed Best

First things first—the biggest selling point for me was seeing Ahmed Best credited as a co-writer alongside Marc Guggenheim. After everything Ahmed has been through with this franchise, seeing him take the reins of Jar Jar’s narrative (and bringing his Mandalorian character, Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, along for the ride) feels like a beautiful full-circle moment. You can tell this story was written by someone who truly loves and understands the character.

The Story: Actions Have Consequences

The issue takes place during the Clone Wars and tackles a heavy subject: Jar Jar’s guilt over his role in granting Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers. It’s a “redemption” story that doesn’t shy away from his past mistakes.

The plot follows Jar Jar on a mission to the planet Urubai, where he teams up with Kelleran Beq to investigate a mining operation. Without spoiling too much, there is a massive lore drop involving Mira Bridger, the mother of - drum roll please - Ezra Bridger, and a secret communication network that hints at the very early foundations of the Rebel Alliance. Seeing Jar Jar transition from a “bumbling” senator to someone who is actually perceptive enough to see through Palpatine’s mask is great character development.

Artwork

The artwork is fantastic. Laura Braga and Kieran McKeown do an incredible job of balancing the “slapstick” physicality of Jar Jar with the more serious, photorealistic tones of the Jedi action. The colors make the world of Urubai feel distinct and vibrant. It is always so weird to me to bring up “color”, but they make a huge impact on what you are reading in comic books.

The Verdict

Is it a perfect comic book issue? Not quite. I felt like the dialogue could have been a bit better. However, that doesn’t mean it was bad by any stretch of the imagination. It is only volume one of the series, so there is a lot of set up that needs to happen to prop up the succeeding entries. I suppose what I am trying to say is it didn’t knock my socks off, but overall a very solid comic book issue.

If you’re a Prequel era fan or just want to see a great character piece co-written by the man who knows Jar Jar best (get it, Best), this is a very good read.

It’s time to bring in the Yuuzhan Vong, the extragalactic zealots whose living technology and apocalyptic crusade reshaped Star Wars storytelling for fans of the New Jedi Order arcs in Legends. If Disney wants the next multi-project arc to feel new while still being authentically Star Wars, I really believe the Vong are the move. Who Are the Yuuzhan Vong

In Legends, the Yuuzhan Vong are a nomadic, extragalactic species who reject technology outright. So much so that the canon alternative to traditional technological devices/machines that we usually see consist of symbiotic life. Another hallmark of their species is that they are cut off from the force. This makes them a terrifying and unique threat that we have not explored yet in Disney Star Wars canon.

Their invasion of the New Republic drove a 19-book publishing initiative, The New Jedi Order (1999–2003), beginning with R.A. Salvatore’s Vector Prime, which introduced the Vong and in a controversial and quite shocking turn of events they killed Chewbacca, one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe.

So, we already have a very established and explored villain that we could work off of and adapt for Disney Star Wars canon. Plus, as of the release of Ahsoka, we now have another galaxy part of canon. So, it wouldn’t be a stretch to introduce these characters into mainstream canon.

Why the Vong work for Disney’s next era

Now that we are somewhat familiar with the Vong, and hopefully you have visited their Star Wars Fandom page to read all about them, let’s take a look at why I think the Vong would work as the next villain.

A visual and tonal reset

As far as on screen exploration goes, we have seen nothing but triangle-hull ships, TIE Fighters, Storm/Clone Troopers, and the lot. The Vong bring organic dread through coral-grown hulls, spined silhouettes, living technology.

It is something that would be very foreign to the Star Wars Universe on a large scale, and I feel it would be a breathe of fresh air if done correctly.

Galaxy-scale stakes without the need of the Sith

For me this is the biggest reason to do it. It will force Star Wars story telling for the big screen into a direction that we haven’t seen. I firmly believe that the onscreen story telling needs to expand beyond the Skywalker Saga.

Which, I think we are going to see a little bit of that in the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu movie that is slated to release in the Summer of 2026. However, so far everything is just so intertwined with the Skywalker Saga that it would be daring to bring in something unique.

Proven To Work

The New Jedi Order novels have already gone to great lengths to prove that the Vong are not only a great villian, but one of the best “big bad’s” in the Star Wars universe. That’s a template Lucasfilm can modernize for film+series continuity while avoiding old traps.

Verdict

If Disney wants the next Star Wars era to feel bold, the Yuuzhan Vong are the rare villain that expands the mythos while honoring it. The canon door is open (Ahsoka’s far galaxy), the creative precedent exists, and the Legends blueprint proves the staying power. It’s time to let the living ships breach the rim.

I still clearly remember sitting in the theater as a kid in 1999 when The Phantom Menace came out. That first look at the red and black tattoos was just different. The Best "Secondary" Character?

For years we have been teased with appearances since he was cut in half by a young Obi Wan Kenobi. He’s popped up in The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and Solo, but never has he had a dedicated piece of visual medium like he is getting now!

Through his many appearances, it was Star Wars Rebels that really solidified him as a top-tier character. Seeing him as this "Old Master" figure—kind of a broken, desperate survivor, added a lot of depth that I didn't expect when I first saw him wielding a double-bladed saber as a kid. It wasn't just about being a "cool villain" anymore; it was about his obsession and his struggle to find a place in a galaxy that had moved on without him - his character has now been a victim of some great character writing!

What to Expect from Shadow Lord

With a title like Shadow Lord, it seems like we’re finally going to dig into the parts of his life that happened off-camera. I’m curious to see how they handle it. A few things I’m keeping an eye on:

• The Criminal Element: Seeing the rise of Crimson Dawn from his perspective could be a great way to bridge the gap between the movies.

• A Slower Pace: Since it’s a dedicated show, I’m hoping we get more dialogue and character development rather than just non-stop lightsaber duels (though a few of those wouldn’t hurt).

• The Psychological Side: Maul has always been fueled by loss and revenge. Seeing how that actually wears on a person over time could make for some really grounded storytelling.

It’s just nice to see a character with this much history finally get the space to lead a story. It feels like a win for the fans who saw that brief flash of red and black decades ago and knew there was more to the story.

Grand Admiral Thrawn returned in Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka, Dark Troopers resurfaced in The Mandalorian, and countless Easter eggs pay homage to that deep well of lore.

With fan demand higher than ever, here are six Star Wars Legends stories Disney should adapt next — tales that could electrify audiences and reshape the Star Wars universe.

1. Heir to the Empire (The Thrawn Trilogy)

Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire trilogy (1991–1993) was the spark that reignited Star Wars fandom after Return of the Jedi. It introduced one of the most enduring villains in Star Wars history: Grand Admiral Thrawn.

We’ve already seen Thrawn make his live-action debut in Ahsoka, and with whispers of an upcoming Heir to the Empire-inspired film, this feels inevitable. But Disney has the chance to go beyond Easter eggs and adapt the trilogy in full. The books feature not only Thrawn’s brilliant military campaigns but also characters like Mara Jade (a fan favorite assassin-turned-ally) and Joruus C’baoth, a twisted Dark Jedi clone.

Done right, Heir to the Empire could become Disney’s Infinity War moment for Star Wars.

2. Knights of the Old Republic (Darth Revan)

Few stories are as beloved in Star Wars fandom as BioWare’s 2003 video game Knights of the Old Republic or the Darth Revan Legends novel. Set thousands of years before the Skywalker Saga, it tells the tale of a Jedi hero who falls to the dark side, becomes Darth Revan, and ultimately faces redemption.

Fans have been begging for a KOTOR adaptation for years, and its mix of moral complexity, epic scale, and ancient Jedi vs. Sith warfare is perfect for the Disney+ era. With projects like The Acolyte already exploring the High Republic, Revan could bridge the gap between that era and the deeper Old Republic.

Better still, KOTOR has the kind of cultural weight that rivals The Mandalorian. For many fans, Darth Revan is the ultimate “Legends-to-canon” request.

3. Darth Bane Trilogy (The Rule of Two)

If the Sith are going to remain central villains, it’s time Disney adapted Drew Karpyshyn’s Darth Bane Trilogy. These novels reveal the origin of the Rule of Two: “One to embody the power, the other to crave it.” To me, these novels feel like the peak of Legends material.

Bane’s story is brutal, tragic, and cinematic. A miner-turned-warrior, he rises through Sith ranks, destroys the old Sith Order, and creates the master-apprentice dynamic that defines all Sith stories to follow.

Audiences craving a darker, more mature Star Wars tale would eat this up. Imagine a prestige-level Disney+ miniseries chronicling Bane’s rise, with the tone of Andor but the mysticism of The Acolyte.

4. The New Jedi Order (Yuuzhan Vong Invasion)

In the early 2000s, Del Rey Publishing launched the ambitious New Jedi Order series: 19 novels chronicling the galaxy’s war with the Yuuzhan Vong, an extragalactic species immune to the Force.

The Yuuzhan Vong were unlike anything Star Wars had seen before — brutal, religious zealots who used biotech instead of machines. Their invasion pushed the Jedi to the brink and forced the New Republic to adapt in terrifying ways.

The book explores Plagueis’s quest to manipulate the Force itself — even to cheat death — and his training of young Palpatine, who would become Darth Sidious. It’s a slow-burn political and philosophical thriller, weaving Sith lore with the rise of the Empire.

Given that The Rise of Skywalker brought back Palpatine, adapting Darth Plagueis would give much-needed depth and context to his story. It would also satisfy fans who’ve long wanted a canon explanation for his infamous “unnatural abilities.”

Legends Already Seeping Into Canon

It’s worth noting: Disney is already adapting Legends, bit by bit. Thrawn is back. Bane appeared briefly in The Clone Wars. Even the Dark Empire concept of a cloned Emperor found echoes in The Rise of Skywalker.

The door is wide open for more. The question is whether Disney will commit to full-fledged adaptations — or keep mining Legends piecemeal.

Conclusion: A Galaxy of Untapped Potential

From epic wars to intimate tragedies, Star Wars Legends offers a host of untapped stories. Adapting them wouldn’t just please long-time fans — it would provide fresh, daring narratives for new audiences.

So the real question is: Which Star Wars Legends story would you want to see adapted first?

And yet, in the middle of this bottomless pit of content, Andor stood out. Tony Gilroy’s grounded, character-driven political thriller about the early days of the Rebellion didn’t just succeed, it succeeded because it was different. It dared to slow down. And in doing so, it revealed a path forward for Star Wars that Disney might want to seriously consider.

Quantity vs. Quality in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, the studio has released five theatrical films and over a dozen Disney+ shows or specials. That doesn’t include the mountain of High Republic books, comics, games, and animated fare. And while much of it is enjoyable, even great in places, the franchise has often been accused of quantity over quality.

The cracks really began to show after The Rise of Skywalker. Audiences were left divided, fatigued, and in some cases, outright disillusioned. The theatrical slate has been in flux ever since. Meanwhile, shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett have struggled to justify their existence beyond surface-level fan service.

And then came Andor.

What Andor Gets Right

Andor made a few critical decisions that set it apart—and should serve as a blueprint for future Star Wars stories.

It Took Its Time

The pacing was deliberate, even patient. Instead of rushing to big moments, it earned them. Character arcs were built with care. Tension was allowed to simmer.

It Focused on the Personal

Cassian’s story wasn’t about saving the galaxy with a lightsaber. It was about surviving under oppression, finding purpose, and realizing that the fight for freedom is often ugly, thankless, and deeply human. That grounded lens made the stakes feel more real than many recent Star Wars spectacles.

It Trusted the Audience

Gilroy’s team didn’t spoon-feed exposition. There were no long lore dumps or callbacks. The show respected viewers’ intelligence and rewarded close attention. It treated Star Wars less like a product and more like a piece of serious storytelling.

Slowing Down Doesn’t Mean Doing Less

To be clear, this isn’t a call for less Star Wars. It’s a call for better Star Wars. Slowing down doesn’t mean canceling shows or mothballing characters. It means giving creators the time, space, and trust to make something meaningful, not just something timely.

Disney’s current model sometimes treats Star Wars like a checklist: fill a release slot, tease the next show, and connect everything. But the galaxy doesn’t need to be “connected” to feel compelling. It needs to be authentic. It needs to breathe.

Marvel is already learning this lesson the hard way, with recent comments from Bob Iger and Kevin Feige suggesting that even superhero fatigue is real. Star Wars has a chance to avoid that fate.

Shows like The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew have shown flashes of uniqueness, and the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film could be a turning point for the brand’s theatrical ambitions. But if Disney wants Star Wars to remain not just profitable, but culturally vital, it needs to take a cue from Andor.

That means betting on bold visions. Telling stories that take risks. Letting writers and directors dig deeper into the galaxy’s emotional core, beyond the lightsabers and legacy characters.

Canon Continuity: Timeline and Impact

In the current Star Wars canon, as documented in Star Wars: Timelines, the Ghorman Massacre occurred in 2 BBY, a pivotal moment during the early moments of the Galactic Civil War. Imperial Army forces violently suppressed peaceful protests on Ghorman, a Colonies planet along the Rimma Trade Route, resulting in hundreds to thousands of deaths. This massacre, detailed in Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire by Chris Kempshall, was a miscalculation by Imperial officials, convincing many with rebel leanings that armed resistance was necessary.

The political fallout was significant: Mon Mothma, in an address to the Imperial Senate shown in Star Wars Rebels, Season 3, Episode "Secret Cargo", blamed Emperor Sheev Palpatine, labeling him a "lying executioner." Captain Tarkin, with implied permission from Palpatine, landed his warship on peaceful protesters blocking the landing pad, protesting Imperial taxation in the Sern sector. This act killed the mass majority instantly, severely injuring hundreds, with many later dying, and only a few escaping with horrific psychological damage. It prompted the former Delegation of 2000 to plot rebellion, culminating in the Alliance years later.

Comparative Analysis: Canon vs. Expanded Universe (Legends)

There is a massive power void to fill, and despite all his bravado, he struggles to figure out what kind of leader he should be. Without Snoke’s manipulations and guidance, Kylo is left to navigate his destiny alone. Looking for answers, Kylo turns to his grandfather, Darth Vader, for answers on he was able to rule the galaxy for so long. This issue gives us a fascinating glimpse into his psyche as he wrestles with uncertainty, rage, and the ever-present temptation of the dark side.

Written by Charles Soule with art by Luke Ross, the narrative follows Kylo Ren’s pilgrimage to Mustafar, where he seeks to uncover answers to his internal struggle within the walls of Fortress Vader. Upon his arrival, he is met by a pack of guards that decide they want to take him on. Kylo obliges. In what is probably the best page of the entire issue, Kylo swiftly deals with the pack of guards in true Kylo Ren fashion – a fit of rage.

Upon entering the castle, Kylo is met by Vaneé, Lord Vader’s long time servant. I think it is refreshing to see Vaneé, especially in this new form that has undoubtedly kept him alive. If you are a Futurama fan, then it may remind you of the preserved President heads in the Head Museum – at least that is what it reminded me of. Vaneé is able to sweet talk Kylo into letting him live and follow in his grandfather’s footstep by letting his emotional past drive his connection to the dark side of the force.

I find Soule’s writing compelling, offering a nuanced portrayal of Kylo Ren’s character. Luke Ross’s artwork complements the story beautifully, with creative visuals seeped in the black and red hues that are often associated with the dark side of the force. The depiction of Mustafar and Fortress Vader is particularly striking, immersing readers in the dark and foreboding atmosphere of these iconic locations. The artwork is truly one of the best parts of this issue.

Tasked with stealing an artifact from Emperor Palpatine’s personal collection during a lavish Imperial gala celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of his ascendance to the office of Supreme Chancellor, the duo finds themselves pursued by relentless bounty hunters Rik Duel and Beilert Valance.

However, the heist takes an unexpected and darkly comedic turn when one of the guards dons Lord Momin’s mask, allowing the ancient Sith Lord to possess him. Now we get to the funniest story of the three. Rogue’s Gambit follows the misadventures of 0-0-0, BT-1, and Black Krrsantan as they kill time awaiting orders from Lord Vader. The trio decides to play a game of dejarik, the same iconic holographic chess game seen aboard the Millennium Falcon in the original trilogy.

Things quickly spiral out of control when Black Krrsantan starts losing, and tensions escalate into an all-out standoff. BT-1 and 0-0-0 draw their weapons on the furious Wookiee, leading to an intense—yet utterly ridiculous—fight between the three of them. Just when things reach their most chaotic point, the whole situation is abruptly and hilariously interrupted by the arrival of Lord Vader himself. His mere presence is enough to silence the bickering trio, creating a comedic yet tense moment that perfectly encapsulates the absurdity of their dynamic.

Rogue’s Gambit delivers the perfect amount of humor and action, providing a lighter, more entertaining contrast to the second story in this collection. The antics of these infamous side characters make for an unforgettable and highly enjoyable read.

However, tensions quickly rise when they begin mocking the Ewoks’ beliefs, leading to heated arguments. The conflict escalates when the chief’s daughter, known as the Red Ghost, leaps from the trees to attack the outsiders. Despite her bravery, the mercenaries’ superior weaponry swiftly turns the tide, even with Meedro and Wicket joining the fight. Ultimately, the battle ends with the mercenaries showing restraint – on the condition that the Ewoks hand over a hostage to guide them through the forest, setting up the events of issue #3.

As a continuation from issue #1, this addition delivers a solid progression of the story. It showcases the Ewoks’ resilience and determination, reinforcing why they’re such beloved characters. However, their courage comes at a cost, as they must sacrifice one of their own to protect the village. While this issue adds meaningful depth to the overarching narrative, I do wish we had seen the Ewoks engage in more combat before their inevitable surrender.

This does bring me to a point I haven’t mentioned yet, watching in release order goes ahead and gets the outdated visuals out of the way so that you can enjoy the other films.

Understanding References and Easter Eggs

Pay attention to recurring themes, characters, and callbacks. Watching in release order means you’ll catch all the clever nods and easter eggs sprinkled throughout the saga.

Unbeknownst to them there looms an imperial threat to their small cozy forest village by the way of General Koyatta, an Imperial General stationed on the forest moon of Endor during the attack of the Rebel Alliance, searching for an imperial weapons cache with his ragtag team of mercenaries.

In this first issue we get a small glimpse of the dangers that the forest holds, but it is only a set up to the rest of the series as the the first issue ends with General Koyatta and his mercenaries entering Bright Tree village. What will happen next? Who is the Red Ghost?

The artwork is a standout feature of this series. The lush, vibrant greens and earthy browns of Endor's Forest Moon are beautifully rendered, immersing readers in the Ewoks’ world. That said, the nostalgia of seeing the Ewoks in print could wear thin if the plot doesn’t progress in any sort of meaningful way.

The most exciting part of this announcement, in my opinion, is that it will be written by critically acclaimed author Alex Segura and illustrated by Phil Noto, whom you may know by his work in the comics Star Wars: Chewbacca #1-5 and Star Wars: Poe Dameron. So, Marvel has tasked and trusted two incredibly talented story tellers for the next chapter of Star Wars comics, so it is hard not to be excited.

For new readers, this series should offer a fresh starting point set in a rather important era of the Star Wars timeline, the dawn of the New Republic. There isn't a whole lot of canon content based immediately after the Battle of Jakku, so there is plenty of room to explore characters and different fresh story lines. This clean slate allows readers unfamiliar with previous comics to jump in without needing extensive knowledge of prior events.

For the long-time fans, we get more content with the original trilogy characters, and who doesn't want that. Okay, maybe not everyone wants that! Returning characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo are guaranteed to feel familiar while being reimagined for this transitional period. New characters, allies, and foes can be introduced as well, adding fresh dimensions to the story without alienating readers who’ve already invested in this universe.

Whether you're here to rediscover old favorites or embark on a brand-new adventure in the Star Wars Universe, this relaunch will offer a perfect blend of familiarity and innovation, making it a must-read for all Star Wars enthusiasts in 2025.
